"boat tours, helicopter rides, walking behind the falls, or simply enjoying the views from various vantage points"  will suit you and I would recommend you don't forget to try them. i would like to listen to your travel story when you come back from this trip. By the way, for how many hours or days are you going there?

I am pleased to know about your living place. I would like to share that New York is my favorite city. And I am happy to know that you are ready to explore this beautiful place with your friend. So, don't forget to enjoy the Whirlpool Aero Car, zipline to the falls, and White Water Walk there. What do you say about my suggestion?
